From story to map: maptelling as an embodied approach to place communication

Description:
Within the DUMAS TALKS series, an initiative designed to bring the academic research of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (University of Sassari) beyond university classrooms as part of its Third Mission, this event features the presentation of the book “Maptelling e smart tourism. Esperimenti di fruizione turistica” by Sonia Malvica, Researcher in Economic and Political Geography.
The manuscript proposes a dialogue between Cognitive Sciences and Geography. In particular, it investigates the communicative potential of Destination Photography (i.e., a key component of Destination Image), storytelling and mapping practices as tools for enhancing tourist experiences.
Main objectives: Participants will be actively involved in a series of examples and practical exercises, designed to experiment with maptelling approaches and to reflect together on their potential applications in smart tourism scenarios.
Event language: Italian
The event will be: mixed, in presence with streaming/remote participation
