The trail is 1.6 km long one way (it is not circular, so we will walk back along the same route). The route is dynamic, with stairs, descents, and a variety of landforms.

During the walk, participants will explore unique geological sites such as the Kalniškiai conglomerate and the Žiegždriai outcrop, observe distinctive landscape features, and learn about the formation of this area. Interesting natural phenomena will also be discussed, including the formation of stalactites – a rare occurrence in Lithuania.

In addition to its geological value, the area is rich in cultural and mythological stories – from the legendary bear of Žiegždriai Manor to local tales about unusual animals. Participants will also notice the developing “singing trail”, where visitors hang small bells.

The walk will encourage direct engagement with nature through observation of landforms, rocks, and coastal processes in the environment of the Kaunas Lagoon.

Main objectives:
– To raise awareness of the geological and geomorphological features of the Kaunas region.
– To introduce participants to the Žiegždriai Geological Trail and highlight its educational value.
– To promote public interest in geography, landscape conservation, and protected areas.
– To encourage outdoor learning and direct observation of natural processes.

Event language: Lithuanian
The event will be: In person

Reference person: Irvydė Pranskūnaitė – Administrator of the Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park Visitor Centre – Reference organization: Kaunas Lagoon Regional Park

Organizers: Geography enthusiasts

Estimated starting time (local time): 7:00 PM
Expected duration: Around 2 hours

Event program:
– Meeting and introduction
– Introduction to the trail
– Guided walk with explanations
– Observation of natural processes
– Discussion and closing

GeoNight code: 2026199

Country: Lithuania – City: Kaunas – Address: Kaunas r. Žiegždrių k. Žiegždrių geologinis takas, 54.884705, 24.066835 Geographical walk in Kaunas…

[15
254,216,206,217,343,228,224
post-107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-lithuania","tag-families","tag-general-public","tag-geographical-education","tag-geography-enthusiasts","tag-kaunas","tag-lithuania","tag-only-in-presence","wpcat-15-id
["GET
