Country: Croatia (Hrvatska) – City: Solin – Address: Croatia, Solin, Dudini 17

Description:

Prezentirat ?e pozitivne i negativne posljedice proizvodnje kave i ?aja te potaknuti raspravu me?u vršnjacima.
Primjerice, u?enici ?e u?iti o engleskom ?aju i kulturi ispijanja ?aja kao odre?ene društvene konvencije u britanskom društvu. Raspravit ?e i usporediti navike ispijanja ?aja u Engleskoj i Hrvatskoj.
Naposljetku, u?enici ?e skuhati kavu i (engleski) ?aj te ih propisno poslužiti sudionicima doga?aja. Na taj na?in ?e doslovno mo?i uživati u plodovima svog rada.

The students will learn about the origin of coffee and tea in a fun way. First, they will explore the amount of coffee and tea produced in the world annualy as well as the largest producing countries of these popular beverages. Then, they will mark them on the map and elaborate on their reasons for marking those countries in particular. The students will present advantages and disadvantages of coffee and tea production in these countries and discuss them with their peers. They will give a (PowerPoint) presentation on the topic to their peers in class and school community.
Since English is a global language, and Geography (as both a natural science and a social science) far exceeds the study of a place, there is a strong correlation between the two school subjects. Therefore, the students will do and present this project in English, as well. They will explore both cultural and geographic origins of tea, along with its social value and impact. To illustrate this, the students will learn about English tea and tea drinking culture as a certain social convention in British society. Also, they will discuss and compare tea drinking habits in England and Croatia.
Finally, the students will make some coffee and (English) tea and serve them properly to the participants of the event. That way, they will be able to enjoy the fruits of their labour – literally.
