NIGHT OF DISCOVERIES
Description:
Geo Night is taking place at The Children’s House in Rijeka, featuring interactive workshops designed for students of all ages. Through hands-on activities, participants will observe stars through a telescope, create three-dimensional island models using contour lines, and test the resilience of structures against earthquakes. The event blends exploration, experimentation, and experiential learning, offering a deeper understanding of the world around us.
Curiosity drives discovery – come explore with us!
Main objectives:
- Introduce participants to observational astronomy and telescope usage.
- Identify visible constellations and explore celestial phenomena.
- Demonstrate how contour lines (isohipses) represent terrain on maps.
- Guide the construction of a 3D model to enhance spatial awareness.
- Explain seismic activity and its impact on structures.
- Encourage hands-on experimentation with earthquake-resistant designs.
- Test the stability of structures using a simulated seismic environment.
- Foster curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific exploration through interactive learning.
