GEOnightfall at the 45th parallel

Description:

Geography Night will be held on April 10th at the Zdenko Turković Elementary School in Kutjevo (Croatia). The activities will be as follows:
Start: 20 pm
Activities:
1. GEO escape room – students will need to discover interesting geographical information about Kutjevo and its surroundings by unlocking a several boxes and solving various geographical tasks about toponymy, landforms, the influence of climate on wine production. The supervisor will be a geography teacher. At the end, the prize will be a mini globe and one third of a mysterious painting.
2. Geo technicians – students will create practical 3D models of earth rotation (with mini electric motor). They will also create a circular calendar (on thin wooden boards) on which they will be able to display and read the season, time and temperature that are important for grapes growing. After they complite the task, the prize will be a set of carpentry equipment and the second third of the mysterious painting.
3. GEO GooseChase – a GEO treasure hunt will be prepared for students, in which they will be guided by math teacher. While moving through the space, they will discover several important pieces of information related to the Turković family (builders of the castle in Kutjevo and authors of the first ampelographic atlas in Croatia). After returning to school, they will receive a compass as a gift and the last third of the mysterious painting too.
After completing all the tasks, they will assemble a painting together that will say “Greetings from Kutjevo at the 45th parallel.”
