negotiation of climate
Description:
Negotation of climate is a discussion-based educational activity where participants are divided into four groups (farmers, politicians, environmentalists, and scientists). In an imagined COP32 working group, they work together to reach a common decision on protecting the Baltic Sea. According to the BSAP plan, Baltic countries are expected to reduce the amount of fertilizers entering the sea by 30–40% by 2030.
The activity encourages participants to strive for a shared goal and to explore how challenging it can be to reach consensus in international negotiations.
Main objectives:
To help participants understand why climate change decisions can seem painful to some groups, but too small or timid to others. The activity also aims to deepen understanding of the Baltic Sea’s environmental challenges and to illustrate the broader impacts of climate change.
