The Mountain Makes It Happen: Geography of Inclusion Between “Restanza” and Welcome – La montagna lo fa. Geografia dell’inclusione tra restanza e accoglienza

Description:

Now in its ninth edition, GeoNight returns for its annual appointment, a tradition established in 2018. The event is organized by the Department of Letters and Modern Cultures in collaboration with the Italian Association of Geography Teachers (AIIG).
This initiative is coordinated by the Museum of Geography alongside students and faculty from the PhD program in Documentary, Geographical, Linguistic, and Literary Sciences, as well as the degree programs in Geographical Sciences for Environment and Health and in Territory Management and Valorization. This year’s theme focuses on territoriality and inclusion, with specific emphasis on mountain contexts, marginal areas, and the various forms of representation and narrative surrounding these regions.
In addition to traditional roundtables, educational workshops, guided tours, and keynote lectures by leading experts, the program caters to audiences of all ages, including specialized activities designed to spark the creativity and imagination of younger participants.
A highlight of the 2026 edition will be the debut of the First Geography Museum Prize of Sapienza University of Rome. This inaugural award will be presented to director Riccardo Milani for his profound geographical sensitivity and his commitment to the processes of territorialization. His cinematic work portrays territory and landscape not merely as backdrops, but as vital social and environmental contexts.
Detailed information and the full program of events can be found on the official Sapienza University of Rome website
