The Young and Early Career Geographers for Sustainability Working Group (YECG GEOSUS) will organize an interactive session during the Geonight Event, featuring a presentation and conversation with Professor Aniss Moumen, Associate Professor at ENSA Kenitra, Morocco. The session will explore the emerging role of AI tools in geographical research and education. Prof. Moumen will engage in a dialogue with young geographers and other interested participants about the benefits, limitations, and risks of AI tools, offering insights into their technical advancements, ethical implications, and impact on geospatial sciences. This session aims to foster critical thinking on the use of AI in geography, emphasizing both the opportunities and potential dangers for scientific integrity.

 

Main objectives:

The objective of this event is to provide young geographers with an opportunity to explore the growing intersection of artificial intelligence and geographical research. Attendees will gain insights into the latest AI tools used in geospatial research, reflect on their benefits and limitations, and critically examine the ethical challenges they present.
