Geography Night 2026
Description:
There will be an educational and exploratory excursion designed to introduce participants to the natural uniqueness of Southern Lithuania, the importance of protected areas, and the expression of geographical processes in the space of National park. Participants will visit Dzūkija National Park, the largest national park in Lithuania, known for its sandy landscapes, pine forests, river valleys, and exceptional biological diversity. The main highlight of the activity will be a visit to Čepkeliai Marsh, the largest and one of the most unique wetland complexes in Lithuania. The excursion will take place along an educational trail, in full compliance with all protected area visitation requirements. The activities will combine observation, explanation, discussion, and investigative tasks, encouraging participants’ critical thinking about nature conservation and the impact of human activity on the landscape.
Main objectives:
To develop environmental awareness and responsibility, to promote interest in Lithuania’s protected areas and regional uniqueness, and encourage experience of geography through observation and practical knowledge.
