Geotechnologies for accessibility and inclusion

Description:

The integrated use of geotechnologies plays a strategic role in the participatory design, planning and management of accessible tourism communities. These tools make it possible to analyse the territorial context, detect architectural and sensory barriers, identify accessible routes and develop projects that can be enjoyed by tourists with specific needs, fostering integrated, strategic and participatory planning oriented towards equitable and sustainable development models. Within this framework, the C.Os.T.A. Project (Comunità Ospitali per il Turismo Accessibile), is an innovative initiative promoted by the Regione Puglia which, through pilot network projects, involves various partners in the creation of itineraries promoting inclusive tourism experiences across the territory, from the coastal areas to the inner ones. In this perspective, a Scientific Seminar will be organised, bringing together academics, researchers, experts and institutional representatives to showcase significant international and national good practices as meaningful references for the C.Os.T.A. Project, with particular focus on the use of geotechnologies applied to diverse territorial contexts. The projects presented share the following core features: inclusion as a guiding principle, the adoption of innovative research methodologies, the use of advanced geotechnologies accessible to a wide range of users — scientific community, policy makers, entrepreneurs, citizens — and structured collaboration among various partners.

Main objectives:

The Event aims:
• to explore the strategic role of geotechnologies in the design, planning and management of accessible and inclusive tourism communities;
• to present and discuss significant international and national good practices as meaningful references for the development of projects promoting inclusion and accessibility;
• to foster dialogue and structured collaboration among academics, researchers, institutional representatives, tourism operators and third sector organisations;
• to examine innovative methodological approaches for the identification and analysis of accessible routes and the development of inclusive tourism itineraries;
