TRAVEL AROUND THE WORLD IN 45 MINUTES
Description:
One class participates in the project (out of about 20 students divided into three groups)
Each group does a task for themselves and presents the results of their work after the time for the realization of that task has expired. The project takes place through Google Myth, Zuma, Microsoft Teams.
Introductory part of the class:
Students will be given a task on the link to determine the geographical position of the following cities: Belgrade, Rome, Istanbul, Warsaw, New York, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo.
After that, with the help of a quiz-puzzle, they will repeat what they learned from Cartography. When all the fields are discovered, a clip will open explaining the existence of time zones in English.
Main part of the class:
The first phase involves determining the geographical coordinates of Warsaw, Rome, Istanbul, Belgrade – latitude and longitude with the help of GPS devices on smartphones. Working time is 5 minutes. After that, they get an accurate result in order to check their work.
The second phase involves calculating the distances between Rome and Tokyo, Belgrade and New York, Rio de Janeiro and Istanbul, Warsaw and Nis with the help of a political-geographical school map (important because each map has a certain scale used in the calculation). Use a ruler and map scale to calculate. After that, they get an accurate result in order to check their work.
The third phase involves determining the time zones in which the mentioned cities are located. Determine what time it is in Istanbul, Rome, Belgrade, Warsaw, Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro and New York if students know it is 13:30 in London. After that, they get an accurate result in order to check their work.
Final part of the class:
Each group from one country should list 3 tourist values to visit in the other three countries of the project (for example groups from Serbia should list, each of them, 3 tourist values for Italy, 3 tourist values for Turkey, three tourist values from Poland).
