Sinkhole Inventory Project

Description:

Join us for a day dedicated to exploring and documenting the unique karst landscape of the region. During the event, participants will learn about the characteristics of karst terrain and work together to create a preliminary map of the Gojelis sinkholes.

In the evening, we will gather to review and present the results of the day’s mapping efforts, followed by local legends and storytelling by the campfire.

Main objectives:

Promote public engagement with geoscience, in line with the spirit of GeoNight, by making geology accessible through hands-on sinkhole mapping activities.

Highlight the importance of karst landscapes and raise awareness about geological processes shaping our region.

Encourage citizen science participation, empowering the community to contribute to real geological documentation.

Support sustainable awareness and conservation efforts by fostering appreciation of geoheritage.
