Building Connections: Inside Australia’s Geography Teaching Associations
Description:
For GeoNight 2026, The Australian Geography Teachers Association shines a light on the collaborative relationship between our national organisation and our dedicated state/territory affiliates. We invite you to join us for a digital spotlight on the people and projects that bridge the gap between local classrooms and the national scene, demonstrating the unique way we connect to support geography education from Meanjin/Brisbane to Naarm/Melbourne to Mparntwe/Alice Springs.
Main objectives:
he primary objective is to showcase the unique federated model of geography education in Australia, highlighting how AGTA and its state/territory affiliates collaborate to drive curriculum excellence and professional advocacy. By presenting this through a digital spotlight, we aim to celebrate our national teaching community, foster cross-border connections and share our structural successes with a global audience of geography enthusiasts and educators. Our digital event will help our stakeholders understand the contributions that AGTA and its affiliates make to geography education in Australia, and to highlight the events, services and resources that are available to teachers.
