Rivers as both victims and solutions to climate change
Description:
This school-and-community event treats rivers like storytellers and climate heroes. It’s all about showing students and locals how important water systems are for fighting climate change, adapting to it, and keeping our ecosystems healthy—through hands-on, interactive, and research-based experiences.
Interactive Experience: “Let the Rivers Speak”
Visitors wander through stations where AI chatbots bring major Croatian rivers and underground waters to life—like the Cetina, Neretva, Sava, Drava, and Lika karst systems. Each river talks in the first person, sharing its challenges—pollution, droughts, floods, changes in flow, and threats to wildlife—and suggests practical solutions based on local and European examples.
European Rivers Knowledge Hub
Students create a digital gallery showcasing major European rivers—Danube, Rhine, Po, Loire, Vistula—and their climate stories. Short videos, infographics, and annotated maps show risks, restoration efforts, and community actions. QR codes link to reliable sources and free resources for anyone wanting to dive deeper.
Learning Through Action
Visitors take part in a fun Climate Quiz that unlocks new questions at each station, helping them remember the key points. The journey ends at the Water Pledge Wall, where everyone—students and community members alike—makes a promise to take one real action to protect water and help nature stay resilient.
Main objectives:
1. Raise awareness about rivers and water systems
