This researcher-led discussion about transcultural spaces of memory shall foreground top-down versus bottom-up practices of memorialization in diverse locations. Attention shall be devoted to a range of methods for understanding the polyvalence of processes of identity-making, with a focus on fieldwork sites of intercultural encounter and resistance. There shall be consideration of geopolitics, heritage, in-groups/out-groups, mobility, and vulnerability at a variety of scales.
