The event offers an opportunity for reflection and discussion on how each of us experiences and interprets places. Geography is not only what we observe in a space, but what we experience within it. Each person interprets the environment through emotional, cultural, and sensory filters: passions, interests, and experiences transform a simple place into a unique experience. Thus, the same space can generate very different perceptions: a cyclist perceives routes and slopes, a botanist perceives the variety of species, a historian perceives traces of the past, and a photographer perceives light and perspectives. Everyone constructs their own mental map, giving rise to a geography of perception and experience.
The initiative aims to show how subjective the perception of places is and how it is linked to personal practices. Passions become forces capable of guiding movements, choices, and ways of inhabiting space, generating true “geographies of passions.” Contemporary tourism can also be interpreted in this way: not only as an economic sector, but as an expression of desires and motivations that reorganize spaces.
Through a participatory and accessible format, the event invites the public to recognize how their passions shape the way they see and experience the world, enhancing geography as a discipline capable of interpreting this plurality of perspectives.
