Workshop Program: “Little Paleontologists”
The “Little Paleontologists” workshop is designed as an interactive and educational activity for school-aged children, with the aim of introducing basic concepts of paleontology and geoheritage in an engaging and accessible way.
The program begins with a short introductory presentation, during which participants will learn about fossils, how they are formed, and their importance for understanding the development of life on Earth throughout geological history.
Following the introduction, participants will take part in a hands-on activity, where they will have the opportunity to step into the role of young researchers. Through a simulated excavation in sand, children will “discover” fossils, learn how to carefully extract them, and recognize their basic characteristics, with guidance from workshop facilitators.
Special emphasis is placed on encouraging curiosity, developing a spirit of exploration, and raising awareness about the importance of preserving natural and geological heritage.
The workshop is led by Darko Timotić, paleontologist from the Provincial Institute for Nature Conservation, with the support of associates and teaching staff, providing participants with an authentic and high-quality educational experience.
