Geonight 2024 | Togo

Description:

OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a collaborative mapping platform where users from around the world contribute data to create detailed and freely accessible maps. Unlike proprietary mapping services, OSM data is open and can be used by anyone for various purposes such as navigation, urban planning, disaster response, and environmental analysis.
A mapathon is a collaborative event where individuals come together to improve and enrich mapping data on platforms like OpenStreetMap (OSM). Participants, or mappers, work collectively to add, edit, and verify geographic information such as roads, buildings, and landmarks, often using satellite imagery or GPS data. These events serve as opportunities to contribute to a global mapping community while also fostering skill development and community engagement.
